I have been unable to determine who Josiah TROTMAN's parents were. However, a Josiah TROTMAN was named in the Gates Co, NC, will of Elizabeth WALTON TROTMAN (1781, I think), wid of Edward TROTMAN, as her grandson--the marriage you cite maybe the same Josiah or his son? My anc Thomas TROTMAN (b 1765) appears to be another grandson, illegitimate son of Susanna TROTMAN (later WALTON) & likely of Blount GARRETT. There was also an illegitimate dau of Susanna & Blount--maybe died young as she does not appear to be mentioned in will. Josiah could have been another child of Susanna. Josiah could also have been the son of a son of Edward & Elizabeth who precedeceased his mother so his name is not known. Edward, who predeceased Elizabeth, also had will (Chowan Co) but does not name all of his children in it. Elizabeth WALTON TROTMAN was the dau of Thomas WALTON, supposed to be son of another Thomas WALTON.
Edward & Elizabeth WALTON TROTMAN had son Demsey or Dempsey--assume that Demsey J. is likely descended from him. As far as we know, all of the NC TROTMANs seem to derive from Edward & Elizabeth. There is a Benjamin in Bertie that I have been unable to identify but likely ties in somehow. The other two TROTMANs you mentioned I have been unable to identify as yet.
