Served in all campaigns of the war with the 5th Cavalry. Was paroled at Hillsboro North Carolina on 26 April 1865. He Married Georgia Loanz Whitten 16 December 1860, daughter of Joseph and Ann (Warnell) Whitten. They had 7 children: 1. Loanza Jedadiah Martin, 2. William Joseph Martin, 3. David Jackson Martin, 4. Daniel Martin, 5. Clara Lolee Martin, 6. Rubin Martin, 7. Sarah Frasier Martin (Mims). He died in Liberty County in 1904, and is buried in Taylor Creek Cemetery.
