BARWICK CEMETERY EMANUEL COUNTY, GEORGIA
LOCATED 3/5 OF A MILE FROM NORRISTOWN, GEORGIA.
AT THE INTERSECTION OF GEORGIA 221 AND THE COVENA ROAD
TRAVEL EAST, THE CEMETERY IS IN A FIELD ON THE LEFT
SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FIELD HAS A HOT WIRE FENCE AND
THE CEMETERY IS ENCLOSED BY A CHAIN LINK FENCE. THE
CEMETERY IS LOCATED ON THE OLD NATHAN BARWICK PLANTATION
AND WAS STARTED IN 1818 WHEN NATHAN'S FATHER-IN-LAW WILLIAM
WHIDDON DIED AND WAS THE FIRST TO BE BURIED HERE. HIS GRAVE
IS OUTSIDE THE CHAIN LINK FENCE UNDER AN OAK TREE AND IS
MARKED WITH A CONCRETE MARKER THAT SAYS "WILLIAM WHITTEN AND WIFE".
THIS TYPE OF MARKER IS ALSO USED ON THE GRAVE OF NATHAN AND
ELIZABETH WHIDDON BARWICK AND SAYS "NATHAN BARWICK AND WIFE" AND
THE GRAVE OF THEIR SON WILLIAM WHIDDON BARWICK. ALL OTHER GRAVES
ARE MARKED VERY WELL WITH THE OLDEST DATED MARKER OF FEBRUARY, 1844.

FORMER SHERIFF OF MONROE COUNTY DIES IN CORDELE
Mr. Henry W. Cain, aged 85, a former citizen of this county
He is survived by
three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Whitten of Atlanta,
Griffin Daily News and Sun, November 13, 1917
Passing of A Good Woman.
Mrs. H. W. Cain died Saturday afternoon at 6 o'clock at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Whitten, in Collins' station. Mrs.
Cain was 72 years of age, was a devoted member of the Baptist
church, a noble women, prominent in the community and in church
work. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her loss.
The funeral took place Monday afternoon from the Baptist church
at Collins' station and was conducted by her pastor, the Rev. James
A. Drewry, and was largely attended, the floral offerings being
many and beautiful.

My father, James Madison Satterwhite, died at his home near Roanoke, Ala., last Friday January 2d, at 5 p. m. and was near 91 years old. He was taken sick on the Tuesday before but was not thought to be in a serious condition until Friday morning. He was buried at the Mount Pisgah church, laid by the side of mother who preceded him to the grave fourteen years. Elder B. F. House conducted the funeral services, preaching a brief and comforting sermon and some remarks were made by other friends, Though it was a cold, windy day the congregation was large, friends coming a distance of fifty miles in autos. He leaves four children -
Mrs. M.E. Whitten of near Roanoke (with whom father lived for many years, and whose faithfulness to him is sure of great reward) B. F. Satterwhite of Roanoke, F. P. Satterwhite, of Memphis, Tenn., and myself, also ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He had for a long time been a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Church. He served most of four years in the civil war and, to be Brief, he was true and faithful in every relation of life, and many pages could be written to his memory, but for the time being, let this suffice.
