Wright is enough to crown any man with military honor, This may be said of Comrad Whitten, who was a fearless soldier. His company comrades best know his worth, and can better speak his praise. Comrad thou art gone but not forgotten.

The town of Newborn was saddened Monday by the accidental death of Horace the Fourteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs B.M. Whitten, whose body was crushed by the wheels of a heavly loaded wagon from which he had fallen.
Young Whitten was assisting in the transfer of carnival paraphanalia from the Central of Georgia depot to the show grounds and in some manner lost his balance and fell beneath the revolving wheels of the pondrous wagon. The injury was sustained about noon, and death resulted at 2 o'clock, it being apparant that nothing could be done for relief of the sufferer.
The remains were carried to Brownwood Baptist Church in Morgan County, Monday afternoon for funeral and interment, being accompanied by a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. - Covington News.

The death of Mr. Berry Whitten occurred at his home in Newborn on Monday , April 22. Had he lived until May he would have been seventy-five years of age.
The funeral was preached at the Brownwood Church by Rev. Elliot, the Methodist minister from Newborn , and the interment was in the cemetery at the church.
Mr. Whitten leaves a wife, to whom he had been married for fifty years, eight sons and three daughters to mourn his death, besides a large number of relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Bibb Saye and family attended the funeral of her father, Mr. Berry Whitten, at Newborn, on last Sunday.

The body of J.N.Whitten,40, of Rutledge, Ga., who died Saturday at a private sanitarium, will be sent to Rutledge Tuesday morning for burial. Mr Whitten is survived by his wife , three sisters, Mrs. E.S. Allen, of Monroe; Mrs. S.B. Adams, of Rutledge ; and Mrs. W.B. Saye of Rutledge ; seven brothers, W.C. Whitten of Godfrey ; H.R. Whitten, of Abba ; B.M. , of Newborn ; R.L. Whitten, of Rochelle ; C.B. Whitten , of Atlanta ; L.L. Whitten , of Detroit , Mich. ; and James Whitten , of Atlanta , and his Mother, Mrs. B.A. Whitten , of Rutledge.-- Sunday's Atlanta Journal.

John Whitten was born in Morgan County March 24, 1880 , the son of Mr. and Mrs. Berry Whitten. He joined in youth Centennial Church. After growing to manhood, he went to Atlanta where he learned the barber's trade and had for a long time been a barber at the Kimball House. In 1914 he married Miss Beaulah Cole. His wife survives him, and he leaves a mother, three sisters, Mrs. Ed Allen, of Monroe; Mrs. Sid Adams, Fair Play ; and Mrs. Bibb Saye of Rutledge ; seven brothers, Will of Godfrey ; Frank and Bob of Rochelle ; Berry, Newborn ; Jim and Charlie , of Atlanta , Lem of Detroit , and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitten had Bright's disease and ten weeks ago became confined to his bed, and died in a private sanitarium September 17. Six of his Atlanta Friends came down with the body. The interment was from Brownwood Church and the services were led by Rev. J.W. Williams , of Rutledge. Beautiful flowers were brought by friends. He has paid his earthly debt. May his name be enrolled in the Heavenly Book in which an entry speaks everlasting peace and joy and freedom.

DEATH OF MRS. BERRY WHITTEN
The death of Mrs. Berry Whitten occurred at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Jerline Allen, in Social Circle, on Friday, Oct. 5. She was born Jan. 28, 1844 , at Lumpkin, Ga. Before her marriage she was Miss Lou Troutman, In 1859 she was married to Mr. Berry M. Whitten. To this union were born eleven children, all living except John who died two years ago. The children are : Will , at Godfrey , Frank, at Fitzgerald, Bob at Rochelle , Mrs. Jerline Allen, at Social Circle, Mrs Mattie Adams, Social Circle , Charlie , Atlanta , Mrs. Vinie Saye, Rutdledge, Lem , Detroit, Jim, Atlanta.
In early Life she united with the Baptist Church , of which she remained a consitant member the rest of her life.
The funeral occurred at Brownwood Church , on Sunday afternoon. The services being conducted by Revs. Rodgers and Ivey.
Mrs. Whitten was a good, sweet, patient mother. No one knew her but to love her for her many sweet traits. All her children, grand children will miss her so much. Truly , " A Mother in Israel, " has gone to her reward.
