FROM KELLY MAILING LIST
JOHN KELLY, HANCOCK COUNTY, GEORGIA
John Kelly lived in Hancock County, Georgia in the Shoulderbone Creek area
(GMD 101) from 1794 until he died in 1818. He married (second) the widow
Margaret (Peggy) Bullock in Hancock County April 21, 1812. John had at
least one child, William who was over 21 in 1818. The executors of John
Kelly's estate in 1818 were his wife Margaret, son William, and Thomas B.
Lawson. Data from the 1820 Census of Hancock County indicate sPeggy Bullock
Kelly was born before 1775. In her household were 6 males under 25 and
2females younger then 9. In the 1825 Hancock County Tax Digest, Captain
Mapps District, Thomas B. Lawson was listed as the guardian for the heirs
of John Kelly who owned 250 acres in Gwinnett County. Who were these
heirs? Who was John Kelly's first wife? Were there other children of this
marriage? Where and when was John Kelly born?
JOHN KELLY, HANCOCK COUNTY, GEORGIA
John Kelly lived in the Shoulderbone Creek area of Hancock County, Georgia
before 1806. His wife Elizabeth and daughter Lucresa are listed as drawers
in the 1806 Lottery in Capt. Hudson's District. On November 10, 1813
Lucresa Stevens formerly Lucresa Kelly of Wilkes County, gave her daughter
Fanny B. Goodyear 3 Negroes, which she will inherit from her mother
Elizabeth Kelly. Elizabeth Kelly died in Hancock County in March of 1820.
The administrator of her estate was Thomas B. Lawson. Beneficiaries of
Elizabeth Kelly's Estate were Lucresa Stevens, Mary (Polly) Tanner, Ann
Bacon, and heirs of Mary Parham. Who were the children of John and
Elizabeth Kelly in addition to Lucresa? Are the other legatees of
Elizabeth Kelly also her children? When did John Kelly die? When and where
was John Kelly born?
KELLEY FAMILIES IN THE ISLAND CREEK DISTRICT (GMD 104) OF HANCOCK COUNTY,
GEORGIA
In 1793 there were 5 Kelleys in Capt. McDowells Company of the Washington
County, Georgia Militia. They were Sgt. David Kelley, John, Jesse, Thomas,
and William Kelley. In 1794 there were 4 Kelley families in the Island
Creek District (GMD104) of Hancock County, Georgia. The heads of households
were Jesse, John, William and David. John and Jesse lived on adjacent
plots. On July5, 1799; Jesse sold his 60 acre plot to John Kelley. On
August 5, 1799;John sold this same plot to Thomas Lewis. I believe they
migrated to Jackson County, Georgia in 1799.What is the family relationship
between John and Jesse Kelley? Who were their spouses and children? I
