Hi, Coyle,
I have just discovered a new ancestor who might also be of interest to you.
If you already have information on Thomas Mason please let me know.
Thomas Mason (b. 1727? VA- d. 1837 Hancock Co., Ga., supposedly lived to be
110!) married Franky Whatley (b. Va), daughter of Michael Whatley (b. VA
-d. 1800, Greene Co., Ga.)
One of their daughters was named Margaret. She married Abner Kelley.
Their known children were:
Rebecca b. ca 1807
John A. b. ca 1810
Delilah b. ca 1813
Amanda M. b. ca 1826
Rebecca Kelley m. Augustus B. Dunn in 1830 (my second great grandparents)
John A. Kelley m. Martha Long in 1838. They were divorced in 1856. (your
second great grandparents.)
Children:
Amanda m. Tyler H. Harrison
Joseph no more info
Martha A. Elizabeth m. James Curry Dickson II
Rebecca A. m. Wm. S. Dickson II
The 1850 Hancock Co., Ga. Census shows that Abner Kelly's wife was named
Margaret. The Masons, Dunns, Kellys all lived in the same area of Dry
Creek. Margaret must have been a MASON. NOW, I have no concrete proof
that Rebecca Kelley is the daughter of Abner & Margaret but all evidence
points that way. John A. Kelley is definitely their son as shown on the
1850 census and Abner's will.
